The summer months are over. Hopefully, the humidity will be gone soon and we can enjoy peaceful fall breezes. We also hope that this newsletter finds each of you safe from August's storms. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the floods, rain, and mud.
Sarah's entering a new stage in her life. Her youngest, Alicia, started college at Winona State this week. Sarah's a really fast stitcher, so does this mean she'll get even more stitching done?
Judy's daughters registered for their junior year in high school. As if having two "almost" 17 year old daughters isn't enough, she allowed her daughter, Mary, to get another puppy. The Althoff family's newest member, Belle, is a three month old golden retriever. (Louie, the four year old poodle/bichon is finally starting to like his sister.) It's weird not to be able to simply put needlework down when the phone rings. Now it's a matter of hiding the needlework from busy teeth, making sure scissors are put away, and stashing all needlework tools, such as pin keeps, so that curious puppy paws don't find them!
Now, on to the business at hand....
We have lots of wonderful events coming up this month. Be sure to register for those that most interest you. We always love to see you!
We also have new and terrific charts/kits in stock. Most are available on this web site, or we'd love to have you come in and browze.
Also, it's not too early to think about Christmas framing. If you have projects ready to frame, or maybe pictures or trinkets from your summer vacation that you'd like to give as gifts, come in and see us now. We're always getting in new framing samples, and we'd be delighted to help you find the perfect frame for your piece.
As always, thanks for your continued business. We appreciate your love of needlework, and your appreciation of finely framed pieces.
Sarah and Judy

A sample of the kit you'll receive is shown. Everything is included in the kit: chart, fabric, thread, button, needle, and finishing kit. You'll also receive lunch, and enjoy their luncheon talk on "A Day in the Life of Lizzie*Kate."
If you haven't signed up yet, please do. The cost is only $65 (which includes lunch)for the entire day. But sign up quickly, as we need to know a final count.
Don't miss this great opportunity to meet one of the country's top designers.

This month's "Designer of the Month" is Sisters and Best Friends. While they just split up as a designing company and are going their separate ways, they say that they're still sisters, and still best friends.
Their whimsical designs are colorful and fun. We hope you like them. Enjoy the trunk show that we're expecting from them this month. As always, the "Designer of the Month" charts will be 10% off during the entire month.

We have lots and lots of new stuff that you'll love. You can see the pictures on our "What's New?" page on our site, but we want to draw your attention to a few of our favorites. Here goes....
Vicki Hastings, from Cricket Collection, has outdone herself with this year's Halloween designs. Her ornaments are wonderfully scary, but her "Sleepy Hollow" is the true winner. It's stitched on "Blue Moon Java" from R&R and is truly creative.
Sharon Cohen, from Nostalgic Needle, is the queen of stumpwork. Now that we have a stumpwork class, and with stumpwork's popularity soaring, we thought it a wise idea to have some in stock. You tell us your favorite, because we can't decide.
We now have the entire collection of Needlepoint Silk in stock! We're going to attempt a DMC to Needlepoint Silk conversion. Give us a little time, though, as that will be a big project.
Stacy Nash Primitives is a new designer that Judy really loves. These are primitive! Connie Olson, you'll love them. Her Halloween designs are especially wonderful.
Lizzie*Kate has something new this year....a special edition Christmas kit. It's really cute and will be a fun stitch.
Homespun Elegance has three new designs, but we especially love their "Autumn Button Sampler." For those of you who love squirrels and acorns, this one's for you.
Nordic Needle's "2007 Award Designs in Hardanger Embroidery" is here, too. This is a great book to get each year, as the designs are beautiful.
La-D-Da's newest in "The Tree of Life." As usual, it's really lovely.
Biscornus (tuffets) are hot, hot, hot. We have several in stock that are gorgeous. The "Seasonal Biscornu" from GPA comes with decorative pins, mother-of-pearl buttons and floss from Olde Willow Stitchery.
Elizabeth Talledo from Dames of the Needle designed a great biscornu of an acorn with wool applique. It, too, is lovely.
We have lots more new stuff in stock, but can't mention it all here. Please check the web site or come in for more information.
